The Embassy of Romania, in partnership with the National Gallery of Art, the American Film Institute and the Romanian Cultural Institute in New York presents a series of 15 Romanian films under the title “Reinventing Realism — New Cinema from Romania”, between May 13 and June 14, 2017. The screenings will take place at the National Gallery of Art East Building Auditorium and AFI Silver Theatre and Cultural Center.
The festival, which takes place throughout a month, offers many exciting movies well-known by cinema lovers as being part of the Romanian New Wave Cinema. American audiences and die-hard film enthusiasts will experience both ordinary and unusual life stories from Romania. The New Wave films are full of black humor and self-irony rendered in a minimalist cine-verite manner.
